bbarry wrote: We don't always get the best TV reception here in Arkansas, but was that a grand slam homer I just saw? Sigh, I assume that you refer to the third inning... I'm not happy with this, now 7-2 in the middle of the 6th. Can the Tribe still win the game? Of course they can but I have doubts that they will. It is like Cleveland is playing preparing for game 7. Since I didn't get home from work until the 4th inning I didn't actually see the first three. Still, it seems to me that, since the Cubs already beat Tomlin, he should have been pulled earlier, before there was an opportunity for a grand slam. I honestly don't know at this time how many of the base runners were Tomlin's. Here is a little bit of trivia and superstition... 1) The Cleveland Cavs won the NBA title in the Spring coming back from being down 3-1. The Tribe is getting close to blowing a 3-1 lead in the Series. Would that not be ironic? Sigh... I don't believe in superstition but like to have fun with it. 2) In the NFL this season there have been two games that have ended in a tie. The last time that happened was in 1997. In 1997 the Tribe lost to the Marlins in the World Series in game seven. 3) In the 1990's the Tribe went to three World Series. In at least two, possibly all three, they lost in game 7. Obviously I want to avoid a game 7 with the Tribe winning game 6... The Tribe history with game sevens just is not all that good by the above stats. Also, game 6 isn't over yet! 7-2 in the seventh inning.

I do think the Tribe has given up on game 6 and is saving their best for game 7.
Personally, I wouldn't be sad regardless of who won.....they are both deserving.

Well all is done and said. Congrats to the Cubs.
I DO think that leaving Shaw in as Cleveland's pitcher after the rain delay was a bad idea and may have been the deciding factor.
Still we are talking about a pitching staff that set two records in the playoffs even though they were without their top two starting pitchers who were injured shortly before the playoffs started.
One of the best World Series in quite a while and VERY possible to be a repeat in a matchup next year. Unless something blows up it is not likely that anyone in the NL will knock off the Cubs and the same can be said about the Indians in the AL. They are just plain the best two teams in baseball right now.

What a series! Absolutely fantastic. Both teams did well. Congratulations to the Cubs after a 108 year drought. To come back after being down 3-1 was one heck of a feat.
Game 7 was amazing. I've never seen a baseball game like that. Even the rain delay added drama.

Congrats to both teams, shame that there had to be a loser, although in my opinion, there were no losers in this Series! I was cheering for the Indians because my favorite cousin since childhood has always been an Indian fan. GG was cheering for the Cubs because she loves losers (why do you think she ended up with a moose?)
Here's to hoping that the 2017 series is as NEAT as this one; hopefully the Tribe will be back in!

I agree that it was a great game and a great series......two outstanding teams. And boy is my tail dragging today, as I'm usually asleep about the time the 7th inning started last night. Jay, since you are my technical hero, I would really like to see a photo of you wearing the Cubs cap per your bet at work (and then, of course, another photo of you wearing the Indians cap).

HA! You will have to wait until the Cubs hat gets here. I just ordered it this morning. Since the Tribe lost I won't be getting the Indians hat. I was only going to get both hats, if the Tribe won, to hang over a poster I would have done.

I read in the paper this morning that the last ball thrown to Rizzo to end the game & series will probably be worth around $3M.

And did you notice that the ball went straight to his back pocket?

No surprise right. With the top seats at $25,000 and $10K for behind the dugout seats I would not be surprised if somebody with more money than sense paid that much for the ball that ended the drought. However, I don't think Rizzo will give it up. Too much emotion for him in all of this.
Did you notice the great amount of Chicago fans in Cleveland. I think there were more outsiders at the game than locals.

Come on......was I the only one who noticed Jay sitting in the Cubs section behind home plate? Above a few rows and to the right of Bill Murray?

Actually Rizzo gave the ball to the Cub's owner during the Rally today. At the end of it all I'll be sort of surprised if it does not end up in Cooperstown. After 108 years I'm sure that Cooperstown will, at least, try to get it. If I understand correctly a person can still retain ownership of an item but allow it to be displayed in the Hall Of Fame. BB, win or lose, if I could afford that seat, I'd have been there. Actually I probably would not. No way would I spend that kind of money for a sporting event. Personally I think that playoff tickets should be priced the same as regular season... at the MOST 150% of regular price. I just don't think it right that poor John Doe that has been scrapping spare money to go to a few games a year for 40-50 years has zero chance of being there.

My bad, Jay. I just thought it was you.
I totally agree with you on the seat prices.....simply not fair to John and Jane Doe. But the networks thrive on showing the celebrities. "Oh look, there is Charlie Sheen, and next to him is Lebron. And I see Al Roker. etc." The Doe's just wouldn't show that well, or so the networks think!

Sigh... as much as I hate posting this photo there was a popular demand of one that I do so. This is the loser hat for my bet at work. If the background looks odd it is the store's office. I tuly hope that the following image does not break any monitors. Attachment:

Oh dear... studious, really? LOL I admit that I wanted to show off my new glasses! But they are rather pretty and more youthful looking than some of the others I liked - and one really was studious looking! First new pair in years and very much needed after getting cataract surgery done in the right eye. My retinologist told me he though we could get my vision back to 20/40 in that eye (I was legally blind in that eye), which I was very excited about. Instead, my vision came back to 20/25! Totally awesome!

That's brilliant news Patty, I take it they are single lens ones ? I'm not sure what the ratio is for me but I wear bi-focal with a pair of single vision just for the computer. I needed the bi-focal when I was doing the cross stitch because of the close vision it needed, not long had a new pair myself, I have home visits so they come to me to give me an eye test.

They are single vision. I can't handle bifocals. I have actually lost some of my close-up vision with the implanted lens from the cataract surgery. Annoying, but it's the price I paid for having any real vision at all in that eye! Might need to use readers for very small print, not sure yet.

Hubby couldn't handle bi-focal either, they gave him a pair a couple of years ago but he just wasn't happy so went back to single vision with an extra pair for the computer.
I've never had any problems with them but then I can quite happily manage without wearing them at all but they do just give that edge to my sight but it's getting the balance right mainly. This last pair the optician wanted to know if distance or close vision was wanted more.

Never thought I'd have to choose (distance or close).
