Doddie, absolutely awesome find, thank you. I was depressed when LZ broke up after Bonham's death. Jimmy Page said the thought of LZ continuing without John was absurd. Now I can finally understand why. :band1:

Last night GG and I watched a documentary on the rock group The Who. I was fascinated by Keith Moon's style and decided to do some research. I discovered a recent article in Rolling Stone titled 100 Greatest Drummers of All Time.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists ... e-20160331

Ginger Baker was number 3, Keith Moon was number 2, and take a guess who was voted number 1, yup, Bonzo.

I have to disagree with the list being a drummer myself... OK... a years ago drummer. I don't argue with the list if it were to be stated as a rock band drummer list.

As a pure musician others MAY have done better but as to pure drumming I see no one better than Buddy Rich.

The thing is that there are different types of drumming. Buddy Rich was more big band and jazz.

Nothing against Ginger Baker, Keith Moon or Bonzo but it remains a fact that Buddy Rich could probably fill in for any of them while they could not fill in for Buddy Rich. Of course this is just my opinion...

Of course the three other drummers named are awesome but they would all freely admit that they could not do the following.

There have been many wonderful drummers through our music history. One name I'll throw out is Karen Carpenter. With her it was not just her killer voice but also her drumming. She never got super complicated in her drumming but everything, EVERYTHING, she did was super clean and precise. She was absolutely flawless in both her voice and drumming.

More of Buddy Rich...

BTW, I once met the dude. He was a total self centered jerk. I guess that when you are the best you can do that... ;)

Buddy Rich came in at number 15. And you know that I think is really cool, there were 5 girls in that poll, but not Karen Carpenter.

I also liked the drummer who came in fourth place, Neil Peart, love that guy.
