That is as in a dinette set.

It isn't large with the table being a 3 foot square but then that is plenty large enough for me even with a guest. :)

At almost 104 pounds I was a bit surprised that the shipping is free! Furniture isn't something I'd normally buy on-line but I just haven't found anything I really like locally.

My living and dinning rooms are really just one area but all my living room stuff is in about 2/3 of the room leaving plenty of room for this dinette set. I figure that the table's dark areas and the black seat cushions should compliment my black living room furniture while the dark cherry wood will make it more like it is a separate area while still fitting in. One cool thing is that it will sit right below a ceiling fan that happens to have dark cherry blades. :)

Nice, mind you when I first looked at the list of new posts because of the exclamation mark I thought it said you were going to get a tablet. :rofl2:

I like the look of it Jay, our living room is supposed to be a living/dining room but it's no where near big enough for that so we'd just eat on trays on our knees when the kids were at home. When they left we turned daughters bedroom into a dining/store room and got a small lozenge shaped table with 2 chairs for us both. The trouble is now it's more a store room, so we're back to eating on our knees again. :rofl2:

I normally eat with a plate on the coffee table in front of my couch. That probably won't change much but at least I'll have a table when I want. ;) Hmmm, I wonder why it is commonly called a 'coffee table'?

Perhaps because when relaxing it's a convenient level to just put your coffee cup on, or whatever you happen to be drinking at the time. :-D

Hey! Houzz.com has some really cool stuff!!! :) I just ordered a 'center piece' for my new table. Since the table top is marble I think this should look pretty cool. Of course it is not a rock that burns but rather an oil candle. It is rock though. :) I love stuff like this.

Size varries as as they are made from natural Appalachian rock but, on average, they are approximately 10" long x 8" wide. I think that should be just about perfect on a 36" x 36" table. :)

Years ago I used to collect oil candles and lamps and have really missed them. Houzz.com seems to have a decent assortment at decent prices. This is probably going to be the next.

Probably followed by these that would be mounted on the wall next to my new table. These do not come with oil candles but I can throw some in. ;) Actually these will come before the above shadow candle. Just have to wait until the first of the month as I don't want to move funds from my savings to buy. Wish I had not stopped at the bank to draw funds for my car registration as I didn't end up needing and it would have left way more than enough to buy both. Oh well, I've been living here for almost 5 years without even a dinette set. I guess that I can wait a couple of days to order some candles. ;) LOL! That is the problem with shopping on-line; cash in pocket means nothing. ;)

Just a quick plug for Houzz.com. My table showed up Tuesday well packaged.

Of course I messed up. When assembling one of the stools I over tightened a bolt for one of the legs and split the leg. Didn't split enough to hurt the stability and could hardly even be seen. Still I know it is there and it bothers me.

It should be kept in mind that Houzz does not seem to be an actual furniture store but rather a clearing house for various vendors. I contacted Houzz saying what happened and asking if it were possible to purchase a new leg. Yes, I know that I could have fudged things and claimed that the leg came damaged and had it replaced under warranty but I'm one of those people that believe that the truth rules. ;)

I contacted Houzz yesterday and got the response today. They contacted the vendor and I'm being sent a replacement leg at no charge. They even asked if I also needed the hardware sent which I did not. I would call that pretty good service. :)

That's brilliant Jay, it's really nice when you hear about companies giving such good service, I agree with you about being honest as well. :)

It is getting there! I REALLY think that I need to paint the chest freezer though. ;) If painted dark the freezer would also decently serve as a small buffet table.

Nice! And I wouldn't paint the freezer as it looks fine. :-)

I was just thinking that Stephen, it matches in with the unit that's already there.

I agree with Stephen and Joan, for day to day living it looks fine.

Perhaps if you're having guests and it really annoys you, you could just throw a dark table cloth over it and put one or more of your candle lights on top... that said, lots of unopened pre-chilled cans or bottles of beer on top would suffice to make me happy if i were visiting :drink9:
