Can't argue but the Tribe game DID have some good pitching. One bad pitch in the 1st inning for a 2-run homer... Final--- 2-1.

Hopefull things will change a bit for the Tribe if Brantly is activated Friday as expected but, right now, they are nothing but 'long ball'. So far they have scored a total of 19 runs and 15 have been the result of home runs. For success through a season I'd much rather see a LOT more 'manufactured' runs.

Most times this sort of thing will even out. Still very early in the season. Here in the East we are still waiting on spring.

Still no real hitting for the Tribe but, MAN, what pitching and defense!

Three wins in a row and 22 straight innings without an earned run given up during that span.

Great pitching again for the Tribe and scored some runs.
Yanks beat the Red Sox after getting their asses handed to them the night before.
Pitching mediocre at best :evil:

Nice to have warmer weather hitting Cleveland! Seems to be bringing the bats alive. Cold weather is not good for hitting in Cleveland.

Sorry I didn't post sooner. The Yankees swept the Tribe back in early May.
Yanks just set the record for most homers coming before the All Star break.
New York is playing very well but Boston is Smoking hot

Seems like there is a lot going on with hitting. Look at the Tribe's third baseman, Jose Ramirez. Friday night he became only the fourth player in MLB history to have thirty home runs and twenty stolen bases in under one hundred games.

Speaking of Friday's game... How in the world did the Tribe win that eleven inning game against Texas? I mean you go to the bottom of the ninth inning up by two runs and allow Texas to tie it up on back-to-back solo homers off a closer, Allen, that has saved more games than any pitcher in baseball over the last six years. Then, in the bottom of the tenth inning, Texas has bases loaded with no outs and the Tribe pitches out of it to win in the eleventh. Add Diaz who has never played a game in the big leagues yet ends up with a four hit evening, including a triple, for the Tribe.

I sort of like what the Tribe is doing with young players but am not sure that it should be allowed. Take Bieber, a good looking rookie pitcher, and Diaz. Bieber is between pitching starts so they send him back to the minors and bring up Diaz. When Bieber comes up in the pitching rotation it looks like they will bring him back up and send Diaz back down.

That was some game. Ramirez is a great player. Those young kids are good assets to have and to move up and down when needed.

Hey Chas, an opinion please.

Do you think that all MLB parks should be the same dimensions? Right now you have different parks with different heights on the outfield wall, different distances to the walls and different amounts of foul ground. Should there be a standard all parks have to follow? I sort of think there should but am not hardcore about it.

No way Jay. Parks having unique quirks and dimensions are part of the fabric of baseball.
Imagine messing with Fenway or Wrigley. They tried the cookie cutter parks in the 70's
None of them are still around.That should tell you something.

I suppose that you are right Chas. Sometimes I just look for consistency. ;)

And... Good for Jim Thome going into the Hall Of Fame Sunday as a first ballot inductee. :) He was always one of Cleveland's most popular players. He was never drafted out of high school and was playing for a junior college. A Cleveland scout named Tom Couston went to see a totally different player and liked what he saw in Thome. Cleveland drafted Thome strictly on the word of Couston. It is sort of funny that on that visit Couston and Thome first talked back to back as Couston didn't want other scouts to know he was talking to Thome.

It is also kind of cool that Chipper Jones also went into the Hall on Sunday. Thome and Jones were pretty much best friends when playing and now. Had to be pretty cool for them both. :)

Interesting note on Thome is that his 13 walk-off home runs are the most all time.

Jones,Thome and Vlad were players that I watched whenever they came to bat

LOL! All the ….. procrastinating(?) that Thome did had to drive pitchers insane! Just his coming to the plate 4 times in a game could extend the game time by twenty minutes. I always loved his antics. :mrgreen:

Yep, Thome is a big dude but one of those gentle giants and humble. LOL! At least there is someone that actually comes from Peoria Illinois. ;) It would seem that he was very popular throughout the league. LOL! If a pitcher 'drilled' him the pitcher's team would probably be ticked. :mrgreen:

Have to also give credit that, while being number eight on the career homerun list he never had even a hint of suspicion during the "steroid era". Every article I've read says that he did everything, in and out of baseball, the right way.

DANG! The Tribe made it as hard as possible but still beat the Red Sox 5-4. The Sox are probably the best team in the game but just mayhaps the Tribe can play with them...

After winning the second game of the four game series 6-3 I guess that the Tribe CAN play with Boston. The best that I really hoped for was a split in the series but the Tribe is in excellent position to win the series. :)
