I just want to be sure that I'm thinking right.

I love my 2002 Mercury Sable LS Premium but the headlights are mostly useless. They are fogged over REALLY bad. Worse is that it would seem that the lens seals are broken as there is condensation inside the headlight units.

I can get new lenses for ~$50.00 and replace myself or take them to a shop. Replacing the lens on one of these units seems to be a total pain and I really don't want to do. On the other hand I can buy complete headlight units for ~$85.00 with a 10 year warranty and just swap them out. If I took it to a shop it would cost much more to have done.

Seems to me that considering the hassle of replacing the lenses on the old unit spending the extra and just swapping everything out is the way to go. See anything wrong with my thinking?

I vote for the new headlight unit @ $85. I think you will find it an easier way to go. I assume you can install these yourself? Should be a simple plug and play.....I did it years ago on my pickup truck.

Swapping the units is not an issue. Actually I had already searched on replacing the units and it is 1-2 screws and a few clips. Since the headlight units set in a "bracket" I MAY not even need to aim the things.

Not having to aim would be nice as it is a long process for me. This may seem odd but it works for me. Since I am blind in my right eye I don't see on that side like 'normal'. I aim the left light as normal but aim the right light just a little high and outside. It REALLY helps my night driving and can't affect oncoming traffic.

Since the parts aren't OEM you may have some fit issues at least I did
when I changed the units on my old 97 Merc. Marquis and I did
have to adjust the aim. Plenty of vids on Youtube
In the end I was happy with the new units
Good luck
