Nothing we haven't suspected all along, but... http://blog.elcomsoft.com/2015/12/what- ... #more-3047...scary, nonetheless. All of the products this company makes are pretty scary too!

It is slow going but I'm still in the process of removing Gmail from my system to be totally Google free.
Out of the screenshots supplied in the article the one that really bothers me is the one dealing with passwords. Even though the passwords are displayed as '*********', if it works just like I were to be on and actual Windows machine, I have a tidbit of code that will translate the '**********' to the actual characters of the password. If that code would also work on the page in the screenshot this could be a really dangerous situation.

The screen shot is just that - a picture.

Yeah, I hate Chrome too, but Gmail, shoot, it works better than any of the others, at least for me. Acadia

When was the last time to you Hotmail (outlook.com now) for a drive? It's pretty awesome, actually.

All I ever get is "Outlook Mail Preview" on both my Hotmail accounts, and it is so slow that you would not believe me if I explained it. Will getting it out of "Preview" somehow fix things, and if so, how do I get out of "Preview". Acadia

I have no idea why you would still be getting preview. Steve?
It's quite speedy for me, so I can only assume it would make a difference. Of course I have no idea about the effects on all of your security software, or why that would be different from Gmail, if it is.

There was an earlier discussion about your problems with Gmail. Refresh my brain, are you using web based mail where you access through your browser or an email client such as Outlook, Live Mail, Thunderbird, etc.? It web based mayhaps we can start another thread and see about getting you to use a client. An email client may improve Hotmail for you especially if you have a very large amount of emails stored.

Possibly, Jay; but my point was how good Hotmail is as a "client." Great, readable interface with great features.

Understood Patty. I also must admit to being partial to a local client for a reason that most people would not have. I monitor five different email accounts. With Live Mail I can check all five in less time than it would take me to log in to one with web based email. Also I can just leave Live Mail open all the time and get notified if there is new mail. This is a major factor as to why I tend to respond so quickly to thread posts. I have Live Mail set to check for new mail on all five accounts every five minutes.

Ok. I get push notifications in my cell phone, so I do appreciate that live factor.

I only use it web-based. Here is the former thread: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1144Further down the page I post a picture of what I actually see. Acadia

Folks, if you think google is bad, which it is, then there is facebook. I run No script with Firefox. With the exception of this site, Wilders, Sandboxie forums, and Emsisoft forums, almost every site I go to has a script from facebook running on it. ARG. I suspect this is so idiots can like something.

It isn't just like/dislike buttons on sites that have Facebook scripts, there are also log on scripts. For instance take Netflix. You are given the choice to log on with either your Netflix or Facebook accounts.

Yes, I closed both my Gmail and Facebook accounts years ago when I saw what was happening.

I also closed my Facebook account years ago. Wasn't there long anyway, mayhaps six months.
One of the biggest problems is that they don't 'police' accounts. Well actually I don't know if they do or not today but they did not a few years ago. My understanding is that they would only look at an account if there were a certain number of complaints.
People would put up sexy pictures in their profile promoting for people to visit and download. Of course, in too many cases, these pictures had malicious code embedded in the picture file.
