Sigh, Western Digital bought out SanDisk.

Of course this is personal preference but I consider SanDisk to be the best manufacturer of flash drives and SD cards on the planet. Hopefully the quality will remain but I've seen too many cases where it does not.

Holy smokes! Dang! I agree with you, Jay. Hopefully WD will keep Sandisk intact.

I hope so also Patty. Sadly I have to remember what happened when Seagate(?) bought out Hitachi as to hard drives. I don't hold a lot of faith as to the quality of SanDisk being maintained.

Shoot, I'm still using a 1TB Hitachi Deskstar as my data drive. It has to be at least 7 years old. What would be the chances of a new drive from Seagate or Western Digital lasting that long?

The little companies tend to build well as they have to so they can survive. The big companies don't like a higher quality device on the market so they buy out the little guy. Unfortunately the tendency is for the big guy to lower the quality of the little guy's product to match the lesser quality of their own.
