This really has nothing much to do with actual computing! I have rearranged my furniture and because I use the iPad a lot of the time, I've decided to have my PC in the room where I clip my dogs. It's not something I do all the time. Probably not as often as I should according to my groomer friend.
What I want to know is, should I cover my PC while I am clipping the dogs in order to keep bits of hair out of the computer, and would it be OK just to cover it with an old sheet or something I have on hand? I don't really want to buy something special for a once a month event.
Maybe it's not even necessary. When I dismantled everything, all the cables were covered in dust because they had been behind the desk for years. I try to avoid dusting when it can't be seen!!

Dust and such is a big negative with computers as it acts like insulation and restricts the removal of heat.
If the system is off it does not matter as much as fans are not sucking anything in to the system. If the system is on you would not want to cover as it would restrict air flow.
Your probable best bet is to just turn off the system while clipping.
