As near as I can tell from the "down right now" sites, it's just you, Acadia. No trouble here either.

Location: The state of confusion; I just use Wyoming for mail.
I also use Live Mail and just checked; no issue. I also have not switched and still use @Hotmail.com instead or @live.com.

Just logged onto web based and, again, no issue.

Hmmm, this morning it is working just fine. I kept getting a "cannot find server" message last night. Like I've said many times, don't you just love these simple computer thingies.

Well, in all these years it had never happened before, and I was still able to surf everywhere else. :dunno:

Acadia, Steve may correct me on this but I'd assume that the error "cannot find server" would indicate that it was a server issue that caused your issue not anything on your end.

However it is also possible that your ISP may have been involved. As you know a computer does not understand 'computerhaven.com'. The phrase is strictly for human usage. So we need a translator to take 'computerhaven.com' and translate it to numbers that a computer can understand. The part of the Internet that does this is the DNS system (Domain Name Servers). These servers perform one service that being to translate the human version of a site name to the numbers a computer can understand. Every ISP and hosting outfit has a DNS.

I have not used a DNS supplied by my ISP for many years. I use OpenDNS. You may want to look at this. Even if, in this case, there was no issue with your ISP DNS I still recommend using OpenDNS.

Heh, I've used OpenDNS since I can remember, probably at least 10 years.

And a "server" is a fancy name for a computer that's bigger than yours.

Ok, again after a couple of weeks I once again ask: Is anyone else having any problems getting into your "hotmail" today. For me it has worked for years, decades?, then stopped totally a couple of weeks ago, then again worked perfectly for a couple of weeks but is now working and then not working and then not working, you get the idea: same message, "Server not found".

Hey, if this keeps up, I am TOTALLY switching over to gmail :omg: (heh, unless I missed it, I would really appreciate a vomiting smilie for that switching to gmail feeling)

Acadia, are you going to Hotmail.com? Outlook.com? On your Hotmail account online, at the top, does it say outlook.com or Outlook mail?

I would absolutely not switch to gmail for an occasional issue like this. Do remember that they are switching over their backend to Exchange (hence my above question of what it says on top).

Does this tend to happen at the same time of day? I know it is intermittent but it is possible, if at similar times, that it could be congestion with your ISP. I doubt it but it is possible.

I'm curious, Acadia, on the toolbar, at the left, in large lettering... does it show Outlook.com, or Outlook Mail?

OK. You're one of the lucky ones then. ;) You've been migrated to Exchange. I have an Outlook.com email account that has been migrated, but my MSN account has not been migrated yet. Waiting with bated breath - well not really. LOL

EDIT: And now it is working again. :mad6:

This might go on for awhile, Acadia. As I said, my msn.com account has yet to be migrated. I imagine this is what is causing the issues. They have a ton of accounts to migrate. Of course, that is just my supposition. You sure you're not having intermittent connection issues?

I've got problems with Hotmail on the new computer for hubby, of course we're both using Windows Live Mail 2012 on our machines and never had problems getting our email into that, I did get the update for it when they sent the notice out so it would keep working.
Of course just bought a couple of new machines that both come with 10, although checking they haven't been upgraded to the Anniversary Edition yet, I'm busy setting the first one up for hubby, the first thing I did was get rid of McAfee. I've downloaded WLM 2012 to it but of course can't apply the patch as it's no longer available, so he can't get his Hotmail email to work.
We never do email via a browser but always bring it into Windows Live Mail, Outlook Express before that. :-)

Try outlook.com, Joan. It's actually quite nice.
