I'm having to enter my user name & password each time I log in to Computer Haven. When setting up my new computer, I purposely did not export/import all my cookies.....I wanted to get a fresh start since I had so many.

When I first logged into CH I checked the box to have the site log me in automatically. I thought that would create a new cookie for the site, but it doesn't look like it did.

Is there something else I need to do? I am using IE 11. Thanks....

First thing to try is to click the link to remove cookies.

You will find this link at the lower right on the main 'Board index'. It will be displayed as 'Delete all board cookies'. Then log in selecting to be remembered.

If that does not solve the issue it gets a little more involved but is still fixable.

Jay, that appears to have worked. I assume that if I do Logout, then I will have to log back in with name/password? I don't normally log out....I just close the site.

Yes, if you just leave the forums you should not have to log in when you return as long as you have 'remember' selected. However, anytime that you actually log out, you WILL have to log in on the next visit.

In one way or another many types of sites do have this.

Of course no banking system should and I've never seen one that does.

Charter goes half way. You can remember but only the user name is remembered, you still have to enter your password. Actually I take that back. Charter WILL allow a full auto log on but only from a known device. Even then that is only for doing things like checking voice mail. If auto log on is used you would have to log out and manually log in, except for user name, to get to any area that deals with billing or changing services. I guess you could say that they have a low and high level log on. If you actually log out you start from scratch.

Many web applications also allow this. Just to use two of mine both my photo gallery and my Sheridan community sites will remember and auto log on. However both of these throw in a catch that I actually like. Both, just like CH, use cookies for the auto log on. However there is a time limit. Cookies CAN be set to expire. Say that you log on to my photo gallery then leave the site without logging out. Come back and you are still logged in. But say you don't come back for months. You would still have to log in again. But if you came back in three weeks you would still be logged in. In the case of both sites, if you actually log out, you will not be remembered and will have to log in.

I can auto log into my bank initially but you still have to know the memorable sentence and the number of the letter or number to input on the next screen, and this changes every time you log in.

It gives you 3 boxes and you have to put the letter or number that corresponded with the number above each box.

I auto log into my sites via RoboForm which in itself is password protected.
