Hi guys,

I have several questions regarding booting from a flash drive using Windows 10. First question, can I install my Windows 10 Primary drive onto a flash drive, insert the flash drive into another computer, boot the second computer from the flash drive, then use my data, etc. on the second computer?

If the answer to the above is yes, what must I do to prepare the flash drive?

I was hoping to back up my primary drive to a large flash drive using Windows backup. I was then hoping to prepare the flash drive so that it was bootable and could be inserted into a second PC. Is this possible? Is this practical? What procedures what I have to follow to do this?

Again, I thank you all in advance for any information concerning this situation.

I do not know for sure that it wouldn't work. However, I do know for sure that it violates the license agreement, in that Windows is licensed for one computer. You would have to purchase a second license to use it on a second computer.

I agree with Patty as to the legality but there is another issue. You would likely run into issues as to device drivers.

Also I would think that running an OS from a flash drive would be pretty sluggish. Why not just backup all your data to the flash drive and use the OS already on the second system to access?
