Whenever I start up on Windows 7 Home Premium, a box pops up asking me to sign in to Windows Live Messenger. When I insert my password, another box pops up that says "A newer version is available. You must install the newer version in order to continue"......options are yes and no. When I click on yes, it downloads the latest version of Windows Live Messenger. Upon completion. another box pops up and says that Windows Live Messenger could not download and verify the update file. Would you like to visit the Web Site, Yes or No. The web site says to open Messenger by clicking on the start menu and then Windows Live and then Windows Live Messenger which takes me back to step one where it says that I must download messenger to continue

Since I never use Windows Live "Anything", is there any way to disable it?

Uninstall it -- It will appear as Windows Live Essentials in your list of programs. When the uninstaller runs, you'll have to option to remove all or remove only those programs of the suite you wish to remove. Note that Windows Live Essentials includes Windows Live Messenger, Mail, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Live Mesh, Live Writer, and Family Safety.

Sometimes solutions are so simple that you overlook the obvious. Thanks much Steve......My Windows Messenger is gone and so are all the pop ups.
