I have a question about the SSD Drive (Kingston 240GB v300). I am going to install them in my desktop also leave my hard drive (1TB) there as well. Someone told me that I should migrate the Windows 7 64X operating system from the hard drive to SSD drive. Is that necessary or don't have to. I know there is a cd disk that come with SSD Drive and already saw on YouTube with how to do in steps with the cd disk from Kingston.

The SSD is the faster drive, hence the advice to set it as your System drive -- where Windows is installed. You can certainly add it as a data drive, if desired, but it won't have much impact on performance.

Thank you for replying to my message. That's what I am planning to do with SSD Drive as System drive and the other with 1TB hard drive for backup.

John, just in case you do not already know this: never defrag your SSD drive. Some SSD installations in fact are so smart that they will disable the built in Windows defragger (you can always turn it back on if you wish).

Yes I have heard about this and will make sure that this SSD drive will not ever defrag. I am not sure if Kingston have this program in this SSD drive. Will find out when I put this in.

Then you ABSOLUTELY MUST 'migrate' or clone your OS to the SSD.

If you plan to use the new drive as your System Drive, then you will either need a fresh install of Windows or a migration.

Consider a fresh install because that will leave all your mistakes behind and you can start fresh. BUT this way will also leave all your programs behind and require an new install for everything. It will probably take over a week or so to get it all set up this way but it's squeaky clean. A migration will happen much quicker and bring everything, warts and all, to your new drive.

It depends how you like the status of your system at the moment which way you choose.
