I scanned two docs - a filled-out (printed) form and an ID card. My printer saves as pdfs.

The person to whom I'm sending them keeps telling me to send them as a doc or PDF. She can't open either. My sent file shows PDF attachments.
When I read it, I read it w/Foxit.

The last time we had this problem,I apologized for sending a searchable PDF.
I just scanned it w/o selecting "searchable."

In all the years I have been filling out forms and scanning to email or scanning to computer, the only person who cannot read (or receive) my attachments is this one person. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you.

The first question would be as to if the person receiving has a PDF reader installed such as FoxIt or Adobe Reader.

The second thought would be her email their email client or web mail. Some of either will by default block attachments of certain types.

Since it sounds as though you can open the ODF from a sent email I don't see where you are doing anything wrong, I suspect that the issue is on the receiver's end.

Since she asked for a pdf, I assume she has a reader.
I sent it to two people (she forwarded it). Neither could open it.
She uses this for business and she requested it, so I can't imagine I'm blocked.

I told you this happened once before with her and I resolved it, so she can read PDFs, but not mine - not the first or second, or maybe even the third time. What did I do before?
What is the difference between Save as Searchable PDF and Save as PDF, (I changed from --- to ---)? I won't know for a while whether she is able to open the second version (not searchable).

Thank you.

I can't say that I can really answer as I don't normally mess with PDF files other than to read.

I can't say for certain about 'searchable/not searchable except that the obvious would indicate that it is an on/off switch as to whether one can search through the PDF. Since you are scanning the result would be an image embedded within a PDF file. I can't see how a search would be possible...

I'm afraid that you are going to have to wait for input from others.

Will do.
It shouldn't be such a mystery, should it?

Thank you!

Actually, at least on the surface, I really don't see a mystery. You can read your PDFs, all others except this one person can read your PDFs. I can't really see any option other than that the issue is on this one person's system.

Making it a searchable PDF, puts a text layer in the pdf file so the search can find text. Adobe Read should be able to read them. I make them with Adobe Acrobat.

Nancy I will PM you an email address. Send me one they are having a problem reading and I will see if I can.

Pete
