| Post subject: | What is a User[Bot] on Computer Haven? |
Sometimes when I log onto CH, I see a couple of Bot users also logged on, e.g., Bing[Bot] or Alexa[Bot]. What does this mean exactly? I mean, who are these people and what is their purpose or intent? |

I think you'll find they are search engines that have found the site and rate it for others to see, usually they are a good thing because the more people who see the name in a search engine the more people will look at the site. That's the easy answer as far as I know but the experts here will give you a fuller explanation when they see your post.

Thanks, Joan. When Patty has nothing to add, you KNOW you got it right.  I figured they were robots of some kind, but I never thought about search engines.....makes sense. |
