I have a Hauppauge USB TV tuner that may have gone south but I'm not sure yet as I haven't checked all the connections. The tuner software even allows it to be used as a DVR. Normal connections to the tuner are a stand alone DVD player, cable box, FM radio antenna and a JVC VHS VCR (allows me to convert VHS tapes to DVD format).
Currently the software states that there is no device available. The tuner could be shot or it could just be a disconnected USB cable or unplugged AC adapter. Like I said I haven't checked out all the connections yet.
My real question is, if I end up replacing the unit, and anyone knows, is Hauppauge still considered the best as to such tuners? If I DO replace I'm really interested in the following:
https://www.hauppauge.com/pages/webstore2/webstore_quadhd-usb.htmlIt looks like a really nice unit but, of course, the Hauppauge site is out of stock. This is a case where Amazon is a ripoff. Through Hauppauge directly the thing is ~$120.00. Best price I've seen on Amazon is ~$175.00.
