Microsoft forced the new "version" on us. The old Outlook.com had a counter on the toolbar that showed when you had an e-mail and the number of e-mails. This "new" version doesn't have this feature. I have looked all over and can't find a solution. Can anyone here help? Thank you in advance.

I just took a look and there is a new message count on the left next to Inbox.

It used to be in the browser tab. Mine says "Mail-my name". When my toolbar has 4 tabs, the hotmail one used to have a number in it to tell you how many e-mails you have. I'm talking about the web version, not Windows 10's e-mail program. Sorry if there may have been any confusion. I'm using Firefox.

I'm talking about the web based Outlook. Here is what I see. Attachment:

That's what I saw when I went to look this morning. Having problems the last few days getting Hotmail and Outlook into Windows Live Mail 2012 so thought I'd have a look at it.
The last time I looked at Outlook it was a completely different look, of course this was before the Anniversary Update, before that I had all my accounts in it but the new version only has my Hotmail one showing.

Vic, not sure if it helps, but if you use one of the MSN pages as home page (MSN or Bing, at least I think Bing) has the number of unread emails in their links across the top of the page.
Jay, your mail has been migrated to the Exchange back end (just so you know).
Joan, if you have two Hotmail accounts (Hotmail, Live, Outlook, MSN), you would have to sign out of one and sign in to the other. Microsoft used to let you link the two accounts and get both, but it created some sort of security issue so they don't do that anymore. This is just on the web mail. Mail clients can still get both. I can even get both on my phone, which is how I monitor one of the accounts.

Patty: You are right with MSN,but, when I have 4 or 5 tabs open and I am not on MSN, I have no way of telling how many e-mail I have. I know I can click on the Outlook mail tab and see how many e-mails I have, but, if I am on another tab it would be nice if I could see how many e-mails I have especially if I am waiting for one. Maybe I am just lazy.

OK I see what you mean now. When you said tabs I thought that you meant within the web based MS email. Now I see that you mean that tabs as those for the actual browser.
