Although I still can't explain what caused the problem described below, it has been solved with a reboot.

This problem is so mystifying to me that I am almost embarrassed to ask for help. But desperation has set in.

I use Win7 and IE 10. I have an extensive list of Links (Favorites Bar) in IE 10. Previously I would simply click on "Links" down in my Toolbar, find the desired Link, and then click on it and the website would open up.

However, this morning when I clicked on a Link, I got nothing but a blank screen except for a toolbar at the top. Since I use SyncToy to backup my Favorites, I went there to restore. But when I clicked on a Link within the SyncToy backup, it gave me the same blank screen. Then I noticed that all Links saved by SyncToy in the Favorites Folder were all shortcuts (not so for any other folders backed up by SyncToy).

But when I open a website using IE 10 and I click on the View Favorites 'star' in the upper right-corner, all of my Links in the Favorites Bar work just fine.

After this long-winded explanation, I guess my questions are:
- How can I delete my current Links list on the toolbar and repopulate it with the Links showing under Favorites/Favorites Bar?
- How can I then get SyncToy to backup the actual Links and not just the shortcuts to the Links?

Thanks in advance :(

The links bar is a folder within your Favorites folder and it contains shortcuts. In Windows Explorer, go to your User Folder and click on Favorites Bar. These are the links in your bar in IE10. Do they open IE and go to the page for that Link when you click them from within that folder in Windows Explorer?

Yes they do, and thanks for your response.

I actually knew the Links Bar contained shortcuts......it just slipped my mind. But I don't know why these shortcuts suddenly started giving me blank pages. When all else fails, I restart my computer, and oddly that took care of my problem.

It was likely due to something resident in memory (RAM) getting corrupted.

Usually any time things get weird a re-start is not a bad place to start. Sadly that is not always the case but usually is.
