As expected from reviews the SSD monitor software for my Sandisk SSD is lacking.
Anyone using an SSD monitor that is not brand specific that you might recommend.
Also interested in optimizing tools.

Actually the Sandisk SSD monitor is pretty sweet even including firmware update notifications. Problem is that I have to 're-find' one of the ports on which it will work. When I was switching things around and re-configuring my drives I did a lot of plugging in and out of SATA data cables. At one point the Sandisk monitor worked just fine and I rather liked the layout of the thing.
The problem seems to be that I have 6 SATA ports AND an IDE port. It SEEMS that I have to play a bit more as a couple of the SATA ports are indirectly linked to the IDE port. This tends to make the system think that the SSD is actually a SCSI drive so the Sandisk software does not see an SSD.
I think that I just need to yank the tower back out of its niche once again to find one of the proper ports. The fact that the software worked just fine at one point tends to indicate that this is the case.

Is this the system you changed to AHCI? You may want to uninstall and reinstall the software to see if it behaves better.

Yep, same system. Already removed and re-installed.
Everything I've found in searches points to the SATA port connection. It must be remembered that this is not a new mother board. It is SATA 2, not SATA 3. Shoot, even though the post screen shows as a possibility of 8 drive connections the first two are true IDE. The first two actual SATA ports seem to be tied to the IDE port. It would seem that this makes the system see the drive as SCSI instead of SSD. Since it is seen as SCSI the Sandisk software does not see the drive.
At this point I'm not really worried about it. Next time I pull the tower out of its niche I'll play with the connection ports.
