Win 10/Laptop
I've been using Win 7 Backup & Restore since 2009.
In the beginning, it took a very long time - like now.
I just clicked on create image last night and about 14 hours later, it's still creating and I am not halfway through.

I have Acronis 17 for images and backups, also and AOMEI, but lately I use Acronis most of the time.
Avira AV is running, and Defender scans periodically without effecting Avira.
What I think I recall is maybe I was scanning everything before creating the image.
I think Stephen figured out what I was doing wrong. It never happened again.
Scan files in libraries and personal folders for selected users is checked.
I am the only user.

This is not the first time I am using B & R. I have two external HD and as one is fuller than the other, I rarely use the 500GB one, which I am using now. It's not the first image I've created (using both drives, most likely), but I may have deleted the first image on this drive (I'm running out of room), because although it said I used x amount of space on an image, it also told me no image was created. Hard to square that information...

At any rate, creating an image shouldn't last more than an hour, ever.

Thank you.

Nearly 24-hours later, it's still running. I am canceling the image. This is ridiculous.

You probably have another program running that is interfering with the Windows Backup. This could be an active or background program.

Please do not take insult from this question but are you running any bootleg software? Many bootleg packages will prevent Win Backup from working.

I had to throw it in but doubt that you are running bootleg software. Considering this thought I must recommend the normal first step in troubleshooting. Power down the system and disconnect ALL power... unplug from the wall outlet and remove the battery if a laptop. Hit the power button a few times and restore all power sources and boot.

Again, as I've said before... Hire a trusted tech to maintain your system. You use your system for business and are losing money by trying to fix all your issues.

Jay,

No, I am not. I would not, either.
I never had a problem creating an image before and do not when I use Acronis.
Is it possible that my backup HD is too full?
I am/was low on space.
This is something that I can fix myself, by the way. Quickly.

Thank you.

It is possible that it could be a space issue. How much free space is on the drive?

Jay,

I just changed settings to keep only the most recent, but I had used something like 110GB in images - with free space of about 146 (of 465).
After erasing, I have 194GB free.

I also told you about the first error (that I don't have any system images). I knew that I did, but possibly/probably on the 1TB HD, not this Free Agent.

Thank you.
