Does anyone know of a program that will either open or convert old .shs files, which are "shell scrap" files, also known as scrap files. These are not supported by the operating system after Vista, and only in 32-bit. My client is using 64-bit Windows 7.

Location: The state of confusion; I just use Wyoming for mail.
I'm only seeing two options...
1) This is 32 bit only so of no real help. Copy the shs.dll file from an XP machine to the same location on the newer machine. The associated registry entries must also be copied.

2) In SOME cases it would seem that you can just drag/drop the .shs file to an open Office window but I believe that this will only work on Office 2007 and earlier.

Yeah, I saw those two options also. Incredible that someone hasn't come up with a converter for these. How difficult can it be?

About as difficult as adding a couple of lines to an installation file so that my Office Keyboard could work normally :D

Probably not all that hard If one knew the exact file structure. On the other hand, if MS happened to hold the copyright rights for the file structure it could just be illegal for someone else to build a converter......... Who knows?

Yeah, that's probably what it is. Where's Raymond Chen when you need him? ;)
