I was going through some old OneNote notes to clear them out, and there was a registration for Trojan Hunter from 2006. I wondered if they still existed, so I looked them up. Son of a gun, they still do, and they run on Windows 8, 32- and 64-bit. What do you know! Well, what I don't know is if it is still considered the great program it was, and is it necessary? I've been using nothing but MSE (now Windows Defender again) and Malwarebytes for years now. Never needed anything else. Trojan Hunter is $40. I'm wondering how good it is, how well behaved it is, particularly on Windows 8, and any other interesting info. Any data anyone? Acadia?

I don't have any experience of it Patty like you I've used MSE and Malwarebytes Pro for years and with that and always the latest version of Internet Explorer I've felt covered. Of course I'm always careful where I go and was pleased to find that WOT worked on my Windows 8 machine. I expect Acadia will have all the answers for you though.

It isn't a bad program, but it isn't normally one recommended. There is no fully functional trial available and it includes a real time protection component that will clash with other security products. This tool was useful back in the day when most antivirus programs had trouble with detecting and removing Trojans. These days, a good antivirus can handle everything this can. And your use of MBAM for spyware and adware detection a removal covers the rest of what this program can deal with.

Trojan Hunter, boy, that is a name that I have not heard in a while. I have to agree with Steve, a GOOD anti-Virus should remove Trojans now days, in the "old" days av's needed help. Of course I personally would also recommend sandboxing and/or a good HIPS program to prevent the Trojan from landing on your system in the first place.

OK, thank you all. So many programs outlive their usefulness in the computer world. (Can you say "Norton?")
