This morning I received a text message on my cellphone telling me someone tried to use my Google password, but Google blocked it. It asked me to click on a link for more information. Not knowing if this was bona fide, I did not click on it.

Later I opened Google Calendar on my desktop and at the top of that window was the advisory that someone in Benicarlo, Spain tried to use my password and Google blocked it. They advise blocking the account and when I click on that link, the first thing that comes up is a request for me to enter my password. This all looks very official, but I've never had a problem like this before so I'm reluctant to enter my password, in the event that it is bogus.

What advice can this Group offer? Should I accept it as a real threat and do as Google advises?
Gerry

Ok, Gerry, I do not use all of the Google stuff that you do but if this were to happen to me this is what I would do:
Use another computer, unless you are 100% sure that yours is not infected, and go to Google and change the password. Make it a difficult one but one that you will remember.
Good luck,
Acadia

Thanks, Acadia. I just received an email in Outlook about this, so that's three warnings: Cellphone, Website and now Outlook email. They all look very real, so I have changed my password, and it is a strong one!

Appears legit, Gerry. I did a Google search on it and found this:
https://www.google.com/intl/en%C3ƒ%E2€š%C3‚%C2%AD/goodtoknow/protection/identity/

Among other things. There are scams out there, but your description is not the same as the scams.

Patty, your link does not take me anywhere except to Google Search.

Not all of Patty's made it as a link. Copy and paste the entire string.

Try this link instead -- I think Patty's points to part of this page:
