I just had my computer into the shop to get rid of any problems that I couldn't remove with Super Anti-spyware etc. Malware Bytes doesn't work on my computer!
Anyway, I don't use the computer much because I have the iPad upstairs and it's more convenient to use that.
I had some typing to do today. Firefox had disappeared from my Start menu and I had to go to all programs to find it. It opened with something called Gadgetbox. I changed my search to Google and got back so that my normal home page is now my home page. I searched "get rid of Gadgetbox". I looked in control panel. Nothing has been installed since it was sorted out at the computer shop. There was no Gadgetbox. I ran Super antispyware.
As I couldn't find it in control panel, I assume it's still on the computer somewhere. I have hardly used the computer and I have downloaded nothing. Should I just carry on as usual? And how do these things get on the computer. I used it last night before I went to bed. I didn't turn it off. I doubt one of my dogs downloaded anything over night. When I moved the mouse this morning - there it was and Firefox had vanished magically off the toolbar.

Thank you. I did all that. I couldn't see anything in Control Panel. I checked the dates beside the downloads and nothing at all had a date later than when I had the computer to the repair shop.
Then I followed the Firefox instructions. I do have IE on my computer but I haven't used it lately. Should I do the IE removal instructions too or doesn't it matter if I never use it?
The strange thing is - as I said - I have only had the computer back a week and I have hardly used it because I generally use the iPad except when I want to do a lot of typing!

I would follow the IE steps, too, just to be sure. It would appear that the junk may not have taken complete hold if you can't located it in Control Panel and you're not observing any other symptoms.
