My laptop, which is not my primary computer, has a 1 TB drive which I partitioned right
down the middle, C & G drive.
G drive is for storage.
C drive has Win 8.1 on it with paid utilities: Sandboxie, Shadow Defender and Raxco
Instant Recovery and no email client.
That considered, which would be better, a Windows 10 "upgrade" or "clean install"?
Either way, can I presume G drive and its contents would not be a affected?

I have done upgrades on 4 different systems with no issues. Easier to upgrade and not have to reinstall a bunch if stuff.

In the past I would say a "clean install". But Microsoft seems to have done a better job upgrading to Win10. But I say that as someone with no experience upgrading to Win10. I am using Win10 as it came on my new pc. Good luck. Oh and yes, I believe your G:Drive will remain unaffected but someone can correct me if I am wrong.

My Asus Notebook came with Windows 8 which I upgraded to 8.1.1 then when 10 came out I upgraded it to that and everything worked with all my programs and files in tact. Of course my drive wasn't divided as it only came with a 320GB drive and I left it as such.

I upgraded my Windows 7 desktop to 10 without any issues but of course since them I've replaced my desktop and it came with 10 and I've also added this HP Envy Convertible and that came with 10.

I do have a Nokia Lumia smartphone which also came with 8 and I've upgraded that to 10 with no problems.

I'm sure you'll be fine and you'll find everything as you'd expect with just a new Operating System to learn.

I also vote for upgrade, as programs and data on your C drive should remain intact and not require reinstalls.

But if you do a clean install of Win 10 on your C drive, you G drive and contents should not be affected.
