I don't know about others but I prefer using this method of log in but Windows 8 does not seem to have some of the normal methods for doing this.
The registry method does not work as the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System does not have the DisableCAD key to change to 0.
Nor can you do this through User Accounts as the option under Advanced/Secure Sign-in is grayed out and not available.
That leaves one method, Group Policies. This does still work.
1) Open Windows Explorer and select your system drive.
2) Type secpol.msc into Search box, double click on secpol.msc to open the Local Security Policy Editor.
3) Navigate to Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Options.
4) In the right pane, double click on Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL.
5) Select the radio button for Disabled.
