If you'd like to see all the apps that are open, bring your mouse pointer up to the upper left corner and you will see the most recently used open app or desktop program. You can click on it to switch to it. Or, if you slide your mouse pointer down the side, the other apps that are open slide out, and you can click on any of them to switch to them.
