Hi Steve, that did not directly change the F key functions but it did change access to the enable or disable the thinkpad by going to the control panel, Mouse, and then selecting "Ultranav". The ultranav option was not there before so thank you very much for bringing this issue to a close. Now it can be readily enabled if need be by going thru the control panel. It is so much better to use now that a simple finger on that pad does not mess things up.
