Earlier today I decided to check in boot.ini under msconfig to see if the name of operating system show or not. It's not there but can't figure out how is my desktop booting up when I turn on my desktop or restart the desktop too. Mine is Microsoft Windows 7 64X Ultimate operating system. Do I have to worry about this or should be fine without the name to boot up the desktop. If I have to fix this to have the name show in boot.ini and please show me how to fix step by step to get the name show.
Thank you,
John

If you are booting to a single operating system, there is no menu of choices in boot.ini. Furthermore, since you are running Windows 7, it is actually using BCD (Boot Configuration Data) and not boot.ini. The boot.ini file remains for older operating system support purposes. -steve

Hi Stephen,
First thank you for correction of the word and I don't know why I put the word ini after boot on the heading of my message. Anyway what I want to know if that is no worry about no name of the operating system in boot under System Configuration in msconfig? That's what I need to know.
Thanks again,
John

Sorry if I wasn't clear -- there is a boot.ini on Windows 7. The BCD information is primary, though. I don't believe that there is a problem, but could you post a snapshot of the boot tab from MSCONFIG?

Unusual, but as long as it is booting and running fine, no worries. -steve

Yes it is unusual and still can boot the desktop and no problem to run the operating system of Windows 7 Ultimate 64X.
OK thanks for looking into this to see if that need to be done or not.
John
