Hi all, I have migrated to Win 8 finally and the Action Center reports that 'Your AMD Graphics Driver has stopped working 2 times, last occurring 2/10/13...To solve this problem, follow the update instruction'. I went through the process and a new driver was located at AMD and is set to download from AMD Catalyst Mobility. But there is a note: Catalyst Mobility is a notebook reference graphics driver and is to be used at your own risk. This worried me so I'm wondering what you all think; Is this ok to fix, if my graphics is working but the current driver must be a problem if it stopped working.
Would it be safe to download this or is it risky as the statement says?
In choosing what 'type of system you have' all I could find that I recognized was Notebook Graphics; others were: APU, Desktop, TV Tuner, Workstation, Integrated Motherboard, Embedded and MAC graphics. Is Notebook Graphics what I would use? or should I leave well enough alone?
Thanks all for being there!!! katy

You could set the Action Center item for this to "ignore" this item for now.
The warning about a reference driver is simply because the driver has not yet gone through the certification process with Microsoft. It should be fine.
If you go to System in Control Panel and look for the display adapter properties, it should identify the exact chipset/model of the graphics that you have. In my experience, though, the Catalyst installer package will update a multitude of adapters, so yours should be covered.

Thanks Steve, I was just going to set it to 'ignore' but I see the issue now shows up under View Archived messages and says 'automatically archived'; the message was gone from Recent Messages. (Another printer issue is also showing in Archived and the status is 'Solution applied' ;I had installed a new driver yesterday).

Is archived the same as in 'ignore' status?

Yes Patty, this is a laptop. And Outlook installed nicely with import btw ;).

Action Center messages are automatically archived after some period of time. I don't know what that time frame is. You can choose to hide a message which is akin to ignoring it. An archived message isn't immediately visible when you open the Action Center. To view archived messages, you would need to select to view them.
