Strange. I'll send a PM.

Yes, it is strange as we've never had any personal email issues that I can recall.

Also, if you already sent the PM, I did not get...

Yes, I did send the PM! In fact, that's what I did the first time, now that I think about it - I just couldn't imagine your not getting a PM, so I figured maybe it had been email. Sigh... I'll try email again.

I got the email.

I MAY have been overloaded on PMs as I had 148 sitting there. Shoot, I had PMs from 5/2012... I'm surprised I let that happen.

If you forgot a recipient it should throw up an alert. If you have a moment try another to see what happens. I guess I've been getting lax. I had three pages of PMs in my inbox and still need to clean out 9 pages in my sent box. :(

Anyway, Gerry, The donation is handled. Patty forwarded to me via PayPal and it will be applied to my hosting. I pay quarterly and your donation will almost cover a quarter. It is much appreciated. :)

Glad you received it, Jay, and you are most welcome. Your guidance helped me install two new internal drives (one an SSD) and get back my triple boot menu for Windows 7, 8.1 and 10. I'm happy to repay your time and patience in some small way.

Now, I have another problem to post to the email forum in CH: I can't get Outlook 2016 to fetch my email in Windows 10 while Outlook 2010 works just fine in 10. If one works, why not the other?

Post a new thread but you will find that with Win 10 and another version of Windows in a multi boot that you must enter the email address password each time you boot to a different OS. At least this is true with Live Mail 2012.

One thing to do is to NOT use the built-in Windows Defragger on SSDs. I have turned scheduled defrags off on my system.

Dave, one thing I forgot to ask: How do you turn off scheduled defrags in Windows 8.1 and 10?

Open Computer, select the drive then right click and select Properties. From the Menu that opens up select the Tools tab and the Optimize and Defragment drive button. Down at the bottom of the box that opens up is the schedule area where you can change the settings.

I ran into a problem with that, Dave. I have two partitions on the SSD that I want to turn optimization off, but the partitions on my second internal HD I want to leave on, to be optimized on a weekly basis. However, when I turn off any one of the two SSD partitions, it turns all the partitions off; and when I turn on one of the HD partitions, it turns on the two SSD partitions as well. I'll have to fish around a bit to see what the workaround is; surely there must be one.

If you are running Win 8 or 10, you don't have to turn off the defragger. 8 and 10 recognize that the drives are SSDs and does not run the regular defrag on them it will optimize them using the TRIM function. So you can probably just leave it as is and you should be OK.

dvair, does Windows run the Trim feature automatically or do you have to run it manually?
Thanks,

I believe it does it automagically, from a few things I have read.
I do mine manually with the utility provided by the SSD manufacturer
