Little problem, tried to run daemon tools lite for a flight simulator but it is not compatable with w10. Can I partition the drive and install or do I need another h/d.

As long as there is enough space on the drive you can partition and install any OS you want on the new partition. You would have to manually set up the dual boot menu though as 10 is installed first.

Can you provide me with some direction Jay. would you need some info from me. I am so much enjoying sobriety, Things that were so trivial in the past are very important today. Corners of the conscience become unlocked, corners that you never knew existed pop in for a visit. "How ya doin, nice ta met ya. Funny thing today. Did laundry the other day, dried it all but didnt take it out and fold it. Got up this morning, went ton P and saw the dryer door open. Closed it and then all I heard was reeeeeeeeer . I opened the door and lexi came out. Look at the positive, she went for an amusement park ride

Sure I can lead you through it but will need some info.

1) Please include a screen shot of the properties for your drive.

2) Let me know what OS you are going to install on the new partition.

3) Download, and have ready, EasyBCD.
http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/#comparison
You will use this to setup your boot menu. Get the free version. This is VERY easy. If you had an earlier version of Windows installed and were going up to 10 this would not be needed as the install would take care of the menu.

Since this deals with partitions and dual booting I have to move this to the advanced area.

Actually we don't really need the screen shot. Just open File Explorer or Computer and right click on the drive. Select Properties and report back with the used and free space.

Also, how much will Windows 7 be used? Will there just be a few installs along with security or will it be a full blown system with a lot of installs? This ,along with the drive info, will give a good idea as to how to partition the drive.

Other options.
1) Install Win 7 as a virtual Machine and see how the simulator performs. Virtual machines perform a lot better today than even just a few years ago.

2) If you have another drive install and put Windows 7 on that drive. This would allow you to just press the Boot Menu key (often F12) to chose what drive to boot.

Well you absolutely have enough room on your C: drive. ;)

For what do you use your D: drive? If it is something that you can move to your C: drive you could just install Windows 7 to the D: drive and not have to worry about fixing the boot loader. I can't quite make out the size of your D: drive...

Jay, I apologize for wasting your time but things took a turn for the better today. I am doing repairs agin on the spitfire for Zurakowski Park. I asked the people if they had any old computers around they wanted to get rid of. When they delivered the supplies for the repair thay also handed me an Acer 4230 Travelmate laptop. Just for fun I hit the power button and wouldnt you know it, it booted up XP Pro clean as can be. Protective plastic is still on the machine. It is from a non smoking home, very clean. All I need to find now is power supply and charger. Any suggestions where to get one cheap? Sorry Jay.

Nothing to be sorry about PB. :)

I would think that you should be able to pick up a universal power brick at any local electronics store and many department stores such as Wal-Mart. Also look at newegg.com and tigerdirect.com.

I am starting to see staying sober has many benefits, people tend to help those trying to better their life. By the way, tried to post on pmp the other day, got an error do not have permission to post. Was logged in.

edit: Things just keep getting better. The lady that gave me the laptop just called. She is going to drop off the power at a local grocery store. I asked why she was giving it away. Just didnt like it any more so ditched it. Typical multi millionaires.

Glad to hear that you are getting the power brick. :)

I don't understand the inability to post on your forums as I just tested and had no issue.
