Hi Jay

Smiling a bit at your post. You say a noobie would have trouble with the Macrium interface, and I don't' disagree, but then the reason the CD's wouldn't boot is you had messed with your bios. Not exactly a newbie thing.

Ah but my system is a bit older and defaulted to native or standard IDE as to drive handling with the option for AHCI. While I don't know for fact I would imagine that on a new system the default would be AHCI and the optical drive would comply.

It is possible that Click to Run is placing Office 365 in a hidden partition which is not being picked up by your imaging program. Certainly Windows System Imaging is not seeing it. It is choosing the System Reserved drive and the System Drive - but is showing no partition for Office, nor any partition with a Windows 10 reset image on it - which Windows 10 did create during setup.

Patty read my post. I did a standard install of Office 365. I think the standard install of click2run apps is appdata. I imaged it with 4 different imaging programs and the restores were perfect.

Actually I believe that I have solved the missing apps. Now PaintShop Pro X3 has disappeared. This has nothing to do with any of the imaging software but rather a security program. I believe that the beta of MapwareBytes Anti Ransomware is seeing a false positive. Such things happen when running beta.

NO NO NO!!! Unless you are talking about Windows 7 Built in Imaging software. I know that has failure issues. But other than that any imaging software I know should restore the system to exactly the state when it was image.

Exactly what imaging software are we talking about.

PS. I've been running security software beta's for over six years, and have never seen quality imaging software do what you describe.

Jay, I am guessing you have a problem with VSS on your system, and maybe the MBAE beta could cause it, although VSS, and I've never seen a problem with any security software. I've never tried the MBAE beta.

Simple test to confirm. Boot to a recovery environment(not windows repair disk) and image the system from that. That way you are just copying sectors from an inert disk. That should restore properly

You miss my point. It had nothing to do with imaging software. Office probably went south before I ever started the imaging, I just didn't notice. PaintShop Pro went away after I was all done with the imaging. I DO remember getting two notices from MBAR.

Can't say what it would be with Office that would throw a false positive in MBAR but can easily see it in PaintShop Pro X3 with its 'nag screen'.

<edit>
I just proved this. I went to the quarantine for MBAR and sure enough there was a file listed. I restored and PaintShop Pro X3 is back and fine.

Are you talking about MBAM or MBAE.

MBAR - new beta. Malwarebytes Anti-Ransomware. I just installed it myself.
