I put this in advanced due to the upgrade not being fed through Windows Updates until 4/11/17 and, even then, in phases. I just did this upgrade manually without issue but beware of the fact that just due to my success it is not a fact that you may not have issues. In my case I figure that I'm a good test as my Windows 10 Pro install is very modified. As far as I can so far see all my 'tweaks' have survived. This is a good thing... If any want to 'jump the gun' and do it early before the official 4/11/17 release via Windows Updates here is a link to get started. Scroll down to the Update Advisor link and go from there. https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperi ... pwYtlYi.97Keep in mind that this is the same type of upgrade as the Anniversary Upgrade released in July of 2016. Whether you do it now, manually, or wait for Updates to do the deed it will take a while and will happen. These Creator Upgrades are sort of like a total service pack upgrade in the past. If you decide to use the above link and use the Advisor I suggest that you manually do a system image of your current system first.

Just did my 4 machines no issues at all.
I was even able to run the upgrade on my wife's system. In the past every time I try to do a major upgrade it would fail with one of the cryptic error message that I would research and not tell me much. I have been able to do clean installs on it but never an upgrade. Tried upgrade to see what would happen and as usual got a blue screen during the upgrade process but this time had a real error message that I could research. Found an answer, went back into windows and applied the fix . I reran the upgrade advisor and the upgrade completed. (Yeah no need to clean install)
I used the link right in the update section on Windows Update in the action center to get to the upgrade advisor.

Glad to hear that it worked on your wife's system David. Just curious about how long on average it took on your machines. I didn't think to time mine but would guess ~45 minutes but then I was watching a movie on one screen and playing a game on another while the upgrade was going on. I just booted my laptop and will time things during the upgrade.

My main machine was around 45 minutes, the other systems are older so it took longer. I just started them and walked away, checked back on them as they were progressing. I don't think it took much more than an hour though for the slow machines. Not much is installed on them so that helps with the upgrade time.

Updated last night. Time it took, don't know fell asleep. What I noticed this morning System Restore was shut off. All restore points gone. Win Defender is different. looks like you can't update inside Defender If you use "Windows Update Show/Hide. All the Hardware updates I hid were gone.Had to hide them again. That's it so far. I'm sure there are more EDIT Found that my sleep settings were changed

Just checked and System Restore was also off on my system Chas. I don't have Sleep Mode enabled so can't comment there.

Hmmm, I just checked my desktop and laptop. Both were still set to never sleep.
Are all your sleep options disabled? One possible instance would be the 'lid' settings under advanced power options. Since I have my laptop connected to an external monitor I have closing the lid set to do nothing. I'm just wondering if it could be an issue where if any sleep options are enabled they reset to default.
Regardless... I really do not think that an upgrade build should be changing user made settings. I felt the same when the upgrade was done and I had to select several telemetry settings options. I have already made my choice about such settings and feel that they should be kept. In fact Chas, if you had not mentioned, I would not have thought to check my System Restore settings.

I don't usually close my lid. I went and checked that setting and it was set to sleep. It was set to Do Nothing before. Maybe it did set the sleep settings to default.

Hey David, I know of a person that blue screened on the upgrade. Do you happen to remember where you got the patch or even just the error code?
<edit> Actually here is the error code received from the system in question: 0x8007042b - 0x3000d Look familiar?
